We are looking for engineers to help us shape the future of marine technology! As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be the design authority for engineering projects in Marine Systems, Process Automation Marine & Ports in Ulsteinvik, Norway, making technical recommendations and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service. You will be the design authority for an engineering discipline with medium complexity. Complete assignments on multiple projects cost effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Working location is ABB Marine and Ports in Ulsteinvik Norway, and the work will be in a global organization with collaboration worldwide.Your responsibilities
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, class societies, and suppliers for your scope of delivery.
  • Designing, documenting, testing, and delivering advanced automation and control systems for ships with electric propulsion.
  • Specifying software functionalities, interfacing I/O signals, and designing control cabinets.
  • Preparing and performing rigorous testing of control cabinets, servers, workstations, and networks in collaboration with clients and class societies.
  • Providing commissioning support both remotely and on-site.
  • Collaborating with our R&D and Sales departments to develop cutting-edge solutions for the ships of the future.
Your background
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Power, Drives, or Automation.
  • Preferably, you have 5 + years of professional experience.
  • You enjoy combining practical and theoretical knowledge and are committed to sharing knowledge within and across departments.
  • Fluent in English with strong cultural awareness and respect for diversity, as we operate in an international environment with colleagues and customers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Marine automation projects with power management, frequency converters and/or automation
  • Knowledge of batteries and/or fuel cells
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and automation systems
  • Experience with ABB’s 800xA system, ABB Control Builder software and Microsoft Azure DevOps
  • Background or knowledge from the marine industry
