Overview:This Title V Epidemiologist is a member of an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists and public health consultants assisting Florida in reaching its strategic public health goals.Essential Functions:
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained through vital statistic records and other
systems, including securely storing and transmitting information. * Perform research, data analysis, and evaluation using various statistical and data managingsoftware packages, such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, SQL, and MS Access to collect and analyze data pertaining to maternal and child health populations. * Provide research and statistical analysis support, training, and technical assistance, includinginterpreting data and communicating same to internal and external partners * Conduct epidemiologic research to identify determinants and risk factors
  • Meet weekly to discuss current and future projects
  • Develop a project plan that includes action steps and timelines to co-lead the Grant Needs Assessment process.
  • Co-lead the Grant Needs Assessment process.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with designated stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and implement focus groups.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
  • Analyze and summarize data.
  • Develop GIS maps or other visuals.
  • Work with stakeholders to review and update maternal and child health indicators as well as add new ones as necessary.
  • Work to improve current county health profiles and provide training on the use of the profiles.
  • Initiate and carry out statistical analysis, including formative and summative evaluations, in
addition to providing an ongoing assessment of data capacity and quality related to linkages,
access and use of key and relevant data sets. * Work to develop a Grant Performance Measure Dashboard.
  • Assist with data request using Vital Statistics datasets and other datasets
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years public health experience (epidemiology, biostatistics, health care, or
demography). * At least 5 years of data analysis experience using Microsoft SQL, R, SPSS, Stata, or SAS.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as part of a team.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading a team or teaching .
  • Doctorate in epidemiology.
  • Knowledge of research methods for compiling, organizing, and analyzing data for presentation in
