One major area of enhancements is to build the top-notch modeling team in the industry.This Head of Modeling role will be a critical part of a small Actuarial Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Actuary. This role will have a team of 20+ actuaries and own actuarial models across all lines of business. Reporting to this role will be, the Head of Annuity Modeling, the Head of Life Modeling and the Head of Downstream Capabilities and Modeling Infrastructure.This role will be a key player in turning various new initiatives (new legal entity, new products, internal reinsurance and novation, etc) into reality and therefore is critical to the success of the overall actuarial team.Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
  • Build the top-notch modeling team in the industry by recruiting, developing and retaining the best modeling talents.
  • Own the prioritization of all modeling requests from Stat, GAAP, Economic reporting lenses every quarter, and makes sure it is consistent with the OKR (objectives and key results) set by Chief Actuary.
  • Collaborate with other actuarial leadership team members including Head of Stat, Head of GAAP, Head of Economic, Head of Strategic Initiatives and Head of Assumptions, to promote innovation and continuous improvements.
  • Be a strong advocate for agile working style.
  • Build a solid industry perspective on modeling and model governance best practices. Always challenge status quo and find ways to improve processes.
The total targeted compensation range for this position is $389,000 - $471,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.For eligible employees, Equitable provides a full range of benefits.   • Bachelor’s degree in scientific, economic, and engineering majors, not limited to actuarial science.
  • FSA (Fellowship of Society of Actuaries) or equivalent actuarial designations
  • 10+ years experience in the actuarial field with a meaningful amount of experience specialized in actuarial modeling.
  • Front-line hands-on modeling experience with various actuarial platforms including Moody’s AXIS, MG-ALFA (Integrate) and Prophet, or any home-grown systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in driving a large modeling team to success.

  • Be able to maximize value creation by optimizing prioritization across multiple competing requests.
