Occupational TherapistBasic Purpose: The OT functions under the general supervision of the Outpatient Director of Rehabilitation Services. He/She assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients with emphasis on pediatrics and provides occupational therapy evaluations, modalities, and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality of patient care.QualificationsEducation: Must be a graduate of or have a certification from an American Occupational Therapy Association-- approved school of Occupational Therapy; Must have current CPR certificationLicensure: Must have or be eligible for MS state licensure as an Occupational Therapist per state lawExperience: Preferred minimum of two (2) years clinical experienceSpecial Skills: Must have the ability to perform basic computer skillsLanguage /Communication /Organizational Skills: Must have the ability to speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others; Must have supervision and leadership skills.Mathematical Skills: Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; Must have ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages to interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Must be able to apply the theory of Occupational Therapy; Must be able to perform technical procedures; Must be able to instill confidence in patients, physicians, and personnel; Must be able to determine proper procedures and methods and evaluate results; Must be able to make decisions on his/her own; Must have the ability to adapt to emergency situations; Must be alert to changes in patient's condition; Must be alert to all activities of the department; Must maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out prescriptions, receiving and translating information, and charting and reporting; Must have the ability and competency to operate the equipment used in the position
