Process Controller Filtration (A2 Operator) - VereenigingFull job descriptionJob Advert SummaryReporting to the Process Supervisor – Water Purification, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overseeing of the filtration process of water, to ensure compliance to water quality standards by monitoring and operating the filtration plant and equipment, monitoring water quality before and after filtration, disinfection of treated water and monitoring and operating the chlorine plants.Minimum RequirementsGrade 12NQF 4/N3 National certificate in Water and Waste Water Treatment Process ControlNational Diploma in Water Treatment Practice or equivalent will serve as an advantage.Eligible to be a Class IV Process ControllerTwo years’ plant experience.Computer literate.A valid Code B driver’s licence and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.Physically fit and strongPrimary DutiesMonitor and control filter plant performance by compliance to water quality standards after filtration.Operate filters within operational procedures. Monitoring of the filtration process via SCADA system ensuring compliance. Back washing of filters manually as well as via SCADA system to ensure capacity and quality.Sterilizing filters by taking filters out of commission for repairs, and maintenance in accordance to Rand Water procedures.Operating chlorine plants (evaporators, chlorinators, injectors, compressors etc.) to ensure disinfection of potable water to prescribed standards.Monitor chlorine plants to ensure compliance to operational and safety requirements.Loading and offloading of chlorine cylinders to ensure sufficient stock on site.Reporting of unsafe conditions which may result in injury or harm to Rand Water employees.Report all chemical spills to Water Purification SupervisorKnowledgeSafety proceduresBasic mathematicsBasic understanding of the water treatment process.Basic engineering principles of flow and pressure.Operation of SCADA systemSkillsOperating of filtration plantsBasic chlorine handlingGood housekeeping skillsGood communication skills (verbal)AttitudeAccurate and systematic approachDecisivenessAttention to detailHigh motivationSatisfactory work efficiency
