If you are ready for a new career opportunity, consider joining our team.Alta Science & Engineering, Inc. is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for an Environmental Data Analyst position to be based in our Kellogg or Moscow or Spokane or Boise, Idaho office. Support environmental management of contaminated sites by leading tasks related to data processing and data management; assisting with data cleaning, compilation and quality assurance/control; and supporting statistical analysis and data summary and visualization.The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who can work well independently and as part of a fun, energetic team across multiple offices in the region. Position is part time, 20 hours/week but will consider full time, benefited, 40 hours/week.Responsibilities May Include:
  • Coordinate and implement tasks related to management, processing, and maintenance of large environmental databases.
  • Maintain data by updating databases with new information.
  • Assist with the analysis, summary, and visualization of data for a variety of environmental projects.
  • Conduct statistical analysis (e.g., exploratory review, box plots, regression, ANOVA) and prepare data summaries.
  • Develop workflows to define user specifications, data relationships and constraints, attributes, and overall business rules for large data sets (typically use MS Excel, MS Access, R, SAS, or SQL Server), or other technology/software.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interactions with Alta staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide timely communication with supervisor and project managers regarding work-related matters.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2+ years working with environmental or ecological data; specifically data analysis and/or management.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; strong technical writing skills; and demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
Desired Experience:
  • R, SAS or equivalent statistical analytical programming language or software.
  • Creating automated processes to efficiently clean, maintain, and summarize data.
  • Building interactive dashboards and maps.
  • MS Access, SQL Server, or Oracle databases or other environmental data management software systems and use of SQL for queries and procedures.
Education and Experience Include:
MS degree in science, statistics, information management or a related discipline, or BS degree in those related disciplines and 2+ years of relevant work experience.Benefits Include:

Salary Range
$60,000 - $80,000 per year (Depending on experience)Potential office locations
