- Ensures accurate and timely processing in the areas of general and fix-asset accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management.
- Develops, implements and directs the strategic plan of operations for the functional areas listed.
- Works with Information Technology to ensure that applicable modules of the ERP are updated, tested and functioning as intended.
- Maintains and evaluates internal controls and key processes and develops, reviews and revises policies and procedures as needed.
- Implements training and communication programs to inform the campus community and facilitate compliance.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with university customers, internal staff and other stakeholders.
- Leads, motivates, trains, supports and evaluates the work of team members.
- Assists the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Services/Controller in coordinating and preparing the university's annual financial reports and year-end close.
- Assists with and/or prepares other internal and external reports, including payroll reporting, employee and vendor tax reporting, and the institutional IPEDS reports.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or public administration.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in accounting or related field.
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, government accounting standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Dedication to assessment and continuous process improvement.
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative data reporting and analysis using spreadsheet and database applications.
- Exceptional interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
- High proficiency with accounting-related software applications.
- Master's degree.
- CPA/CMA.
- Higher education and GASB experience.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification.
