Department OverviewReporting to the finance manager, this position provides financial and accounting analysis support for both the healthcare and School of Medicine Diagnostic Imaging departments. This includes preparing the monthly financial reports, variance analysis reports, and helping maintain accurate billing records and reports. The Finance & Accounting Analyst works with PBS, UPS, and HFS to ensure timely and accurate billing of technical and professional imaging charges as well as auditing the exam completion cycle to ensure timely and accurate archiving of images and reporting of patient imaging. This position assists with the preparation and submission of capital and operating budgets for 18 orgs and provides financial reports to help the Finance Manager in supporting the development of department strategic initiatives. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary liaison between research departments and Diagnostic Imaging services for the technical component as well as the main contact for PO and pcard required purchases.Function/Duties of PositionFinance Analysis
  • Prepare monthly variance, payroll, and supply reports for finance meetings with modality managers
  • Provide financial analysis support for departmental growth and strategic projects
  • Support development of proformas and related reports to help with decision support
  • Perform Ad Hoc analysis and reporting of revenue and expense, staffing level, staff performance, QA/PI data and other measurable aspects of business as needed
  • Coordinate with Grants Manager on sponsored projects as needed Provide support to Finance Manager during budget season
  • Billing Reconciliation
  • Perform weekly billing reconciliation between PB & HB billing
  • Perform audits of submitted charges & maintain performance monitors
  • Work with Radiant team to ensure accurate billing of new procedures
  • Act as departmental liaison for Imaging faculty, fellows and residents, other OHSU departments, physicians, medical students, patients and outside agencies regarding pricing and/or billings of departmental services.
  • Provide backup to Sr. Accounting Technician for Epic work queues
  • Track reimbursements for new procedures to ensure we are maximizing reimbursement
  • Work with UPS and PBS to ensure appropriate and congruent interpretation of CPT and other medical billing regulations as they relate to Diagnostic Imaging.
Department purchasing
  • Point person for all purchases requiring a requisition in Oracle
  • Point person for all purchases requiring a pcard (Amazon or other online orders)
  • Assist with logistics order issues as needed
  • Assist with other purchasing functions as needed
Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university. AND
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience
  • Prior Academic Health Center or relevant financial specific experience performing analysis related to operational improvements and business cases.
  • Highly proficient with use of PC including database and spreadsheet applications.
  • Intermediate spreadsheet skills, including complex functions, formulas, and formatting.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in finance or accounting
  • Experience with automated billing and financial audit systems
  • Advanced Excel and Smartsheet skills and knowledge of OHSU Oracle and Webi operations
  • Certified as a Professional Coder (CPC)
