- Investigate technology concepts for 5G/6G technology (Release 19 and beyond) and prepare internal feasibility study documents and presentations.
- Participate in the brainstorming sessions for technology concept / idea generation in the 5G/6G domain
- Draft technology patents and work to promote NEC intellectual property into 3GPP and other related standards.
- Prepare 3GPP meeting contribution documents (discussion papers, CRs) considering the result of internal investigations
- Follow 3GPP RAN WG1 / RAN WG2 / RAN WG3 standardisation meetings to track the technical discussions
- Analyse and report on the contributions submitted by other companies into 3GPP RAN WG1 / RAN WG2 / RAN WG3
- Prepare 3GPP meeting reports and de-brief NEC internal teams
- Collaborate with NEC standardisation delegates in 3GPP and other related forums like O-RAN.
- Support other engineering and customer facing teams on topics related to 3GPP standardization e.g., for reviews, technical Pre-sales or trouble shooting
Educated to a degree level, preferably in the area of communications, electronics, or software engineering, physics or mathematics. M.Eng/MSc./PhD would be a plus.Essential Experience and KnowledgeThe successful candidate must have:
- Experience in 3GPP RAN WG1 / RAN WG2 / RAN WG3 standardization activities, ideally as a back office researcher or delegate; or
- Experience in other standards organization (e.g., IEEE, O-RAN) having knowledge in Layer-1/Layer-2 technologies; or
- Experience in system engineering related activities authoring detailed technology study documents
- Knowledge of 3GPP mobile telecommunications technologies and system architectures for LTE, LTE-A and 5G NR
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
- Experience of patent filing for 3GPP technologies and /or other related wireless technologies
- Experience of preparing 3GPP contributions (e.g., discussion papers, CRs)
- Experience of attending 3GPP RAN working group standardisation meetings
