The Civil Engineering Project Manager is a senior-level role working directly under the Civil Engineering Department Manager. The Civil Engineers primary responsibility is to provide project leadership and expertise on the design of Civil projects or Civil engineering aspects of multidiscipline projects; plans, designs civil engineering projects, including analysis and engineering calculations under very general supervision of the Senior Civil Engineers and direct supervision of the Department Manager. Additionally, the position assists the Department Manager in planning, designing and leading civil engineering projects including studies, analysis and presentations while marketing GLHN’s civil services through business development efforts in line with GLHN’s strategic plan for the Phoenix Office while working in a team environment to accomplish project deadlines and goals.TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIESo Prepares and monitors project budgets for projectso Responsible for adherence to project schedules and timely completion of smaller projectso Serves as primary project technical spokesperson and as a designated client contacto Assists in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projectso Assists in the preparation of engineering agreements for his/her projects within the departmento Prepares design computations and quantity estimateso Research code and agency issues and coordination with code/agency officials in resolving questions/issueso Develops probable construction cost opinions for his/her projects within the departmento Attends client meetings -- days or nightso Responsible for control of work-in-processo Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, test and aerial photographs to plan and design projecto Researches design options and prepares findings and recommendationso Directs and supervises the activities of designers and junior engineerso Handles routine delegated contract administration issueso Organize and maintain project fileso Maintains neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by otherso Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and designs for projecto Instructs CADD technicians to reduce designs to working drawingso Visits construction site to monitor projects and other duties per the contract documents.o Reviews shop drawing and contractor submittalso Serves as on-site project representativeo Uses computer programs and spreadsheets for engineering analysis, reports and presentationso Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documentso Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company and/or agency production and design standardso Keeps Department Manager and/or Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional serviceso Reads, analyzes and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulationso Prepares reports, business correspondence and procedure manualso Effectively presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general publicQUALIFICATIONS:o Licensed/Registered Civil Engineer, PEo Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited universityo 10+ years of relevant and progressive experienceo Proficient use in MS Office as well as discipline-specific and project management software applicationso Skills in business development and client relationship management
