For more information, visit and .SUMMARY:This position works on the Systems Engineering team with a focus on the IBM i family of products and solutions. The IBM i Systems Engineer plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the IBM iSeries (AS/400) infrastructure to support our Plant and Warehouse environments. The role will require working some nights, weekends, and holidays to perform upgrades and/or installs during non-production hours as well as system support for issues as they arise and as needed.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • All-encompassing administration duties for IBM i environment including security controls, TCP/IP, BRMS, job control, performance and capacity planning, system updates, and license management.
  • Execution of enterprise system design, installation, and maintenance of system configurations.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and coordinating hardware support for IBM i environment.
  • Administration and troubleshooting for Aldon and ARCAD change management software.
  • Management of Logical Partition (LPAR) systems using virtualized I/O (VIO), Hardware Management Console (HMC) and all associated technologies.
  • Lead complex system upgrades and migration projects, ensuring minimal downtime and business continuity.
  • Researching, implementing, and maintaining system and platform security to help ensure environment stability, solving complex computer performance and technical problems, as well as developing and following well-documented change control procedures.
  • Assisting user community with questions and/or problems with IBM i environment.
  • Write scripting automation with high technical competence, preferably in CL, COBOL, RPG, C# and/or Python.
  • Provide project management of medium and large IBM i related projects across the enterprise.
QUALIFICATIONS:Required
  • An appropriate bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering/Administration or related field
  • Advanced technical experience in IBM i management, DB2 Management, OS Upgrades, patch management, performance tuning, and System Replication / Disaster Recovery / High Availability
  • Deep knowledge of OUTQ print management and BRMS backup and recovery processes
  • Strong experience of ITS infrastructure and troubleshooting experience, including networking and TCP/IP concepts, server hardware, etc.
  • Skilled understanding of modern iSeries development tools and methodologies, including RDi, Git, and DevOps principles
  • Solid foundation in network and system security protocols and standards
  • Pattern of initiative and technical innovation, proven problem solving, decision making, and project management skills; strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to participate in after-hours escalations and/or system upgrades (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and 24 x 7 on-call as scheduled
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

Preferred
  • Understanding of DB2/SQL on IBM i, data modelling, and database security/integrity
  • Knowledge of IBM iSeries application development - specifically in ILE RPG, RPG Free Format, CLLE, SQL, RPGLE and C#
  • Technical knowledge of cloud technologies and administration
  • Proficiency in other operating system software, hardware, and virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency in physical servers, storage arrays, storage protocols, backup, and restoration technologies.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Oracle Financials software solution
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus
