- We are hiring immediately for a CAFE MANAGER position.
- Location: MIT, 500 Memorial Dr, Cambridge, MA 02139. Note: online applications accepted only.
- Schedule: Full Time; Rotating including weekends and nights. Mostly evenings including some weekends.
- Details: This position will support residential dining and will manage 20 or more employees. Key Responsibilities:
- Takes ownership of the operation and ensures operation meets all timelines for service and all other timelines established by management and/or client
- Manages all aspects of location payroll, safety, and marketing
- Interacts professionally with a diverse group of associates, peers, managers, suppliers, clients, and customers
- Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in assisting customers, clients, peers, and subordinates
- Conducts house meetings as needed
- Evaluates problems, and make appropriate recommendations
- Audits units to ensure conformance with the Company, government, and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes regarding food storage, preparation, sanitation, and record keeping
- Requirement: Experience working in a union environment is highly preferred. Food service operation supervision experience. General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures.
- Salary: $75,000

- Hires, supervises, trains, and coaches associates.
- Plans, markets and executes special events/promotions in the cafe
- Ensures compliance with proper sanitation and cleaning standards
- Operates within the budget and identifies new ways to improve the business
- Manages cafe operations
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations
- Operational knowledge of cash handling procedures and food service equipment
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
- ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred
