- Develops and maintains a marketing plan.
- Coordinates resources and personnel for fundraising special events and activities.
- Assists the Corps Officer in cultivating and developing fruitful relationships with corporations, churches, civic groups, and other public entities.
- Recruits, trains, coordinates, and directs volunteers.
- Develops and cultivates relationships with the public, foundations, local churches and schools, civic organizations, youth agencies and clubs for education and support of new and existing programs.
- Public contact and public speaking to bring awareness and to garner support for the ministries and services of The Salvation Army.
- Develops corporate gifts and sponsorships for special programs and projects.
- Prepares correspondence including media news releases, thank you letters, updating of contact lists; makes phone calls to network and otherwise develop relationships benefiting The Salvation Army.
- Assists the Corps Officer in communicating with the Advisory Board on special events and committee projects.
- Monitors fund raising and capital campaign promotions; communicates results of promotion and prepares reference reports.
- Compiles and publishes all local printed/online material, including flyers, newsletters, brochures, annual report, website, Facebook, Twitter, online Red Kettle, etc. Arranges for photographs and/or video to be taken at public functions and special events; maintains photo/video archive for use in publications and productions.
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
- Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
- Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
- Plans annual volunteer appreciation event; invites volunteers, plans program, proposes venue, recommends special recognition activities; coordinates staff involvement.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related Business field, AND
- Three years progressively responsible experience in public relations developing and coordinating special events and media relations OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
