The Humanities Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago invites applications for part-time Lecturers during the 2024-25 academic year.The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in the Creative Writing program in the genres of poetry, nonfiction, and/or fiction. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching craft seminars or workshop-style classes, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparation and grading of assignments, inclusive of providing written feedback on student work. Responsibilities may also include reviewing student course applications depending on the course. Additionally, depending on the curricular needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2024-25 will be at least $7,538. This position is not benefits eligible.QualificationsApplicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (an MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing is preferred), have a minimum of two years of experience teaching creative writing at the university or post-secondary level, and a record of publication in print and/or online publications.
