Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking an Immigration Specialist with a strong background managing the full cycle of US nonimmigrant and immigrant visa processes to join our Legal team.As an Immigration Specialist, you will be responsible for filling employment-based immigration petitions and applications, strategizing individual cases, and providing recommendations on immigration matters to external and internal stakeholders. This role will report to the team's Head of Immigration and work directly on US visa petition filings and immigration compliance projects. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and an empathetic and judicious approach to handling employee immigration concerns.Additionally, you'll have strong knowledge of various visa processes, including initiating visa extensions and amendments, analyzing documents, and determining immediate and long-term immigration strategy.Responsibilities
  • Gather and review immigration eligibility documents and analyze potential immigration options/benefits, including green card eligibility in the EB-1, EB-2, or EB-3 preference categories, H-1B, L-1A/B, E-3, TN, J-1, and F-1 STEM OPT qualifications, and select global visa processes
  • Prepare US employment-based immigrant, nonimmigrant, and PERM filings in their entirety (draft supporting letters, organize documents, proofread, etc.) and file with appropriate government agencies
  • Prepare PERM strategy plans, file prevailing wage determination (PWD) requests through the Department of Labor website, maintain PERM audit files, prepare ads, and finalize ETA 9089s for filing through the PERM FLAG filing system
  • Monitor and update individual employment visa milestones, expiration dates, and deadlines
  • Proactively check for potential issues or timeline delays with various visa processes and ensure stakeholders are kept up to date on progress
  • Coordinate with internal teams and sponsored employees to obtain necessary documents/information and discuss case progress
  • Research and effectively report on both global and individual immigration matters, advising on any regulatory rules or changes that may impact individual visa processes or the business as a whole
  • Other ad-hoc immigration compliance responsibilities, including but not limited to reviewing DS-160s, assisting with visa appointment scheduling, drafting B1/B2 invitation letters, Labor Condition Applications (LCA) posting management, and Public Access File (PAF) compliance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years experience with corporate immigration procedures and filings for both US nonimmigrant and immigrant filings
  • Experience with PERM strategy and filings through the PERM management system and FLAG website
  • Experience with immigration management software such as LawLogix, Miratech, Docketwise, Envoy, or a related system/technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Annual base salary range of $100,000 to $140,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
