Job Description:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Electric Machines team at Flanders! This position will research, design, develop, document, build, and text complex motors, components, and/or accessories. The Senior Engineer - Electric Machines position will provide experience and leadership for new and improved products and support them in production, sales, service, troubleshooting, and as updates are needed. This position will also analyze and provide recommendations on how motors and/or components meet the goals and objectives of the customer design.This position will be located at our Evansville, IN facility.Here's What You'll Do:
  • Research, develop, and design new DC, AC induction, or AC synchronous motors/generators for various applications.
  • Research historical design data, diagnose and correct deficiencies, and drive consistency to motors being designed and manufactured.
  • Provide expert engineering advice, mentoring, and technical assistance to other team members.
  • Manage new and existing projects to completion.
  • Create motor test performance requirements to provide design intent.
  • Gather customer goals and objectives, and develop engineering solutions to meet their needs.
  • Provide technical review and approval of all customer designs.
  • Provide information related to customer proposals as needed.
  • Develop documentation necessary to design, manufacture, install, and commission engineered products.
  • Provide technical/engineering direction and support to stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Prepare technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain product design parameters and specifications.
  • Develop equipment user manual and appropriate project documentation.
  • Approve design drawings and specifications for release and/or changes.
  • Ensure projects are executed in the most effective and efficient manner in regard to time, cost, and function.
  • Resolve engineering issues with manufacturing as it relates to the manufacture and production of designed motors and components.
  • Stay current on cutting edge technology related to our products and industry.
  • Participate in and conduct design reviews.
  • Contribute to and provide support to Engineering Design as needed.
Requirements:Here's What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 15 years of relatable experience
  • Ability to successfully analyze electric motor design calculations and use ANSYS Motor-CAD software, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), as well as other tools in the analyses.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of material strengths, fatigue strengths, and manufacturability to ensure that the right configuration and materials are developed
  • AutoCAD/Autodesk drawing experience
  • Inventor software certification (preferred)
  • 3D modeling software experience
  • Finite element analysis experience
  • Experience designing to UL standards and other safety and regulatory agencies
  • Project management experience
  • Strong organizational skills
