Analyze and respond to First Examination Reports (FER) from the patent office, formulating strategic responses to address and overcome objections. Represent the university at oral hearings before the patent office to advocate for the grant of patents. Collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, and external patent attorneys to ensure robust protection of intellectual property. Perform detailed patent searches and analyses to assess the patentability of new inventions. Advise on patent strategies, patent law issues, and intellectual property rights. Manage and maintain the university's patent portfolio, including record-keeping and administrative tasks related to patent applications and prosecution. Train and educate university staff and students on intellectual property matters. Draft and negotiate intellectual property agreements, including licensing agreements.
