
Quality Inspector Lead

- Review the production schedule for the week.
- Review work instructions and job travelers to verify the process.
- Determine material, manpower, and equipment needs for each job.
- Verify the correct set-up for each job.
- Pre-process, in-process, and final inspection of customer-supplied parts.
- Determine different conditions on parts to determine their acceptability.
- Determine proper packaging for parts and ensure accurate counts.
- Record and verify accurate information on job travelers and in the computer.
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Can work in all inspection roles, whatever the department.
- Supervise quality personnel in the department.
- Act as a liaison between employees and management.
- Ensure that the department produces a profitable, high-quality product at all times.
- Ensure a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist Quality Manager/Supervisor with customer issues and inventories.
- Conformance testing and approvals.
- Reviews & signs certifications.
- Tabulates quality weekly results and Internal audits.
- Knowledge of proper safety regarding hazardous waste handling
- Hazardous Communication/Right to Know and Emergency Response/Contingency Plan
- Waste Minimization
- This position reports directly to the Production Lead
- AQL Sampling Inspections.
- Ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Able to multiply, divide, add, and subtract proficiently.
- Be able to make decisions on your own.
- Understand and use all inspection equipment and procedures.
- Diagnose, determine root causes, and provide corrective actions on quality-related problems.
- Oversee line housekeeping tasks.
- Pay ranges from $25.00 to $32.50 per hour.
- Must be able to read and write English legibly.
- Ability to work overtime as required to meet business needs.
- The ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift.
- Up to 2 years of previous Quality experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proven track record in lean manufacturing principles, including standard work, continuous improvement, problem resolution, and delivery of results that positively affect the organization's bottom line.
- The ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
- Actively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors, and conforms to all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
- The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
