Environmental Hydrogeologist III- San Francisco, CA [1945-RSI-04]
RSI EnTech
- San Francisco, CA
- Permanent
- Full-time
- Directs and oversees sample teams performing environmental sampling tasks, such as collection of soil, surface water, groundwater, soil gas, or other environmental media for physical or chemical analysis and ensures proper documentation of all field activities
- Direct drilling subcontractors and logs subsurface lithology during drilling and sampling activities following the Unified Soils Classification System (ASTM 2487). Ensures the design, installation and development of groundwater monitoring wells and remediation wells are conducted according to project work plan specifications.
- Prepare and peer review groundwater investigation work plan, designs groundwater monitoring network to support site characterization and remedy performance evaluation.
- Prepare designs for more complex or multi-phase/multi-media groundwater, vadose zone, and soil vapor/vapor mitigation remedial systems – including the placement of extraction wells/injection locations and vertical intervals, well spacing, injectant dissemination methodology, injectant dosing, pumping and injection rate (water and/or sol vapor), etc.
- Analyze complex slug, pumping, dipole and tracer test results to interpret contaminant flow and transport and to design/optimize remedial systems.
- Determine and design excavation dewatering and mine reclamation dewatering needs based on site conditions using analytical and numeric modeling tools.
- Select and design artificial groundwater recharge sites; evaluates and implements optimal recharge technologies based on site conditions (recharge basins, vadose zone injection, and aquifer storage and recovery wells, etc.)
- Review potentiometric surface and isoconcentration contour maps for submittal to client.
- Assesses groundwater–surface water interaction with regard to site flow mechanics and contaminant transport.
- Model multi-phase/multi-media contaminant fate and transport in soil vapor, vadose zone moisture, groundwater and surface water. Designs and conducts sensitivity testing of inputs on model results.
- Models optimization of operating remedial systems using manual (trial and error) and advanced automated optimization models in support of improving remedial system performance/reducing life cycle costs
- Quantifies water well and supply characteristics including well capacity/efficiency, capture zone, contributing area.
- Supports assessment and development of transport/receptor-based and/or leaching-based cleanup values in support of risk assessment and remedial decision making
- Conducts watershed and runoff analyses.
- Evaluates data generated by field activities to provides detailed interpretations of subsurface lithology, groundwater flow conditions, and nature and extent of contamination for inclusion in reports or presentations.
- Author RFQs and assist in procurement and selection of technical and specialty subcontractors, consultants, service providers, and materials to accomplish scope of work.
- Organizes and conducts project meetings with clients and/or regulators.
- Support development of modification proposals and claims/request for equitable adjustment (REA)
