If you're ready to live Chamberlain Care®, we invite you to apply today!Job DescriptionThe Medical Director, Physician Assistant Studies Program, reports directly into the Program Dean for Chamberlain University's new Physician Assistant (PA) Program. The Medical Director is actively involved in the PA program. He/she will support the Program Director in ensuring that both didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care. The Medical Director will be instrumental in forging relationships with clinical sites in close partnership with the PA Dean and Program Director. He/she will be actively involved in recruitment and development of clinical sites for supervised clinical practice experiences as well as providing instruction. He/she will also be involved in evaluating student performance and will assist the Program Director and faculty in the design, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and the program.This is a part-time, onsite role at the Phoenix campus contributing about 8 hours per week.The Medical Director will:
- Work with Project Director to ensure that didactic instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care
- Facilitate communication between the program and the local medical community.
- Recruit and develop clinical sites for supervised clinical practice experiences
- Participate in evaluation of supervised clinical practice experiences to ensure that compliance with established ARC-PA accreditation standards and guidelines.
- Chair the PA Program's Advisory Board.
- Participate in the review and revision of program mission, policies and procedures as needed.
- Assist the Program Director and PA faculty in the design, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and the program
- Provide teaching and instruction in areas of expertise.
- Provide a physician perspective to students.
- Participate in student recruitment, selection, and admission processes.
- Provide counseling and advising to students, faculty and staff when appropriate.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Currently licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician.
- Certified by an ABMS-or AOA-approved specialty board.
- Experience in educating and mentoring students in medical education and clinical practice.
- Experience in curriculum development preferred.
- Possess knowledge of current PA standards of practice.
- Strong collaboration, team building and communication skills.
- Comfortable with leadership and operating within a matrixed organization.
