- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Strong experience with mainframe systems, including programming in COBOL, dataCom, IBM legacy and working with legacy technologies
- Oversee the lift-and-shift and live modernization of existing applications to AWS, or architect the redevelopment of legacy applications into cloud-native solutions, as decided by strategic goals
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers and architects in cloud best practices, development methodologies, and technologies
- Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, risks, and resource allocations
- Demonstrated ability in leading digital transformation projects
- Extensive hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and substantial experience implementing cloud-native services; preferably on AWS
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s); such as Java and/or C#
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Document high-level and low-level architectural diagrams, decisions, designs, and modifications
- Certifications in AWS cloud architecture or similar credentials
- Prior experience in the financial services industry, particularly with secure and compliant systems
- Strong analytical, negotiation and partnering skills with ability to successfully navigate in a matrix organization
- Advanced problem-solving skills, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to think analytically
