The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing and distributing employee payroll accurately and on time. This includes calculating earnings, withholdings, garnishments, and maintaining payroll records.Key Responsibilities:
  • Calculate and process payroll for all employees on a scheduled pay period basis by gathering and verifying time records, pay rates, deductions, etc.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of earnings including regular pay, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, etc.
  • Process payroll withholding including taxes, insurance premiums, retirement contributions, garnishments, etc.
  • Prepare and distribute pay stubs/direct deposit advices to employees.
  • Balance, audit and reconcile payroll accounts and reports. Resolve any payroll discrepancies.
  • Update and maintain complete payroll records and databases for each pay period.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments to government agencies.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees regarding pay, deductions, etc.
  • Assist with year-end reporting, W-2 processing, and annual pay summaries.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state and local wage/hour and tax laws affecting payroll.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Prior payroll processing experience required, 2-4 years preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll taxes and laws/regulations
  • Skilled with payroll and accounting software/systems
  • Strong math and data entry skills with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and reconciliation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
