As a Resident Care Assistant (RCA), you will be an integral part of a direct care team serving our Assisted Living tenant population at Hillview Terrace, our state-of-the-art apartment complex in La Crosse, WI.What's in it for you?

Additional hours are available! Staff also work a holiday rotation.Wage depends on experience!
Non-Certified Staff: Up to $19.20/hour for weekday shifts and $21.20/hour on weekends.
Certified Staff: Up to $20.28/hour for weekday shifts and $22.28/hour on weekends.We will be accepting applications until the right person is hired.La Crosse County Respects DiversityEssential Job FunctionsAssists tenants in daily activities, such as orientation of new tenants, escorting and transporting to various activities, encouraging socializing and communicating with other tenants, and assisting and encouraging them with own care to preserve their dignity and self worth.Assists with or provides personal care. Transfers tenants using proper body mechanics or gait belt or as necessary. Adheres to & follows individual tenant plans of care.Checks alarms/devices for proper operation. Answers emergency call system and follow up as necessary.Performs simple nursing duties such as weights, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Reports changes in patient's condition to supervisor immediately. Participates in defining needs of residents to assist in development of the tenant's service plan.Provide treatment and determines and administers medications by following the "Five Rights":

·Right dosage
·Right time
·Right route/methodAssists with meal service and clean up. May assist tenants to dining/common areas.Changes bed linens, collects laundry, and assists with housekeeping duties (vacuums, dust, bathroom and kitchen clean up). Empties tenant garbage regularly and common areas as assigned. Assures tenant apartments are neat and safe.Documents and records personal items of tenant upon admission, daily care, activities and behavior, any injuries or suspected tenant abuse, and submits reports in a timely manner.Works with Supervisor to implement planned recreation/social programs and to engage tenants.Works safely and follow safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard.Maintains tenants' rights and confidentiality of tenant information.Immediately report all suspected cases of resident abuse or neglect to the Community Living Supervisor or Administrator.Participates in and completes in a timely manner, in-service and educational programs.Answer phones and directs calls, greets visitors and performs some clerical duties as necessary.Employee is expected to report to work when scheduled, with minimum use of sick leave, to build up sick leave balance for income protection for unexpected illness.In this public service position, employee is required to be positive, courteous, cooperative and respectful at all times, with the public and clients. Also establishes and maintains a courteous, cooperative and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors and public officials.Maintains pleasant disposition and displays compassion and a smile at all times when dealing with tenants. Maintains a positive, cooperative and helpful relationship with all employees, tenants, visitors.Physical demands: Uses near vision, stands, walks, moves around the facility 75% of shift. Uses hands for delivering personal care, treatments and, etc. Communicates with tenants and staff members using talking and hearing. Read and write English. Ability to kneel or squat within six inches of the floor; pushes & pulls tenants weighing up to 250 pounds. Lifts 35 pounds, transfers up to 50 pounds. Use nursing-related equipment such as: blood pressure device; scales; wheelchairs; tubs etc.RELATED JOB FUCTIONS

· Ability to encourage and engage tenants in programs and accommodate to meet their needs.Training, Experience and Other Requirements
  • High school graduation or GED, unless enrolled in School-to-Work Program.
  • For Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the Wisconsin State Registry for Nursing Assistants with current Federal Registry eligibility.
  • If not certified, prefers previous experience performing personal care duties in a related setting.
  • Work history showing dependability, punctuality and excellent customer service skills.
  • Prefer experience working with elderly.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Successful background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
Benefits for this position depend on the number of hours worked.
  • If the position is full-time, then benefits would be available.
  • If the position is part-time, then limited benefits would be available (this would not include insurances unless 30 hours per week or more).
  • If the hours are less-than-half-time, then there are no benefits available.
