The Medical Assistant works as part of a health care team by assisting the physician in providing high quality patient care in a professional, efficient and safe manner. The Medical Assistant will also provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients.Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:OFFICE VISITS:
  • Introduces self to patient while escorting patient into exam room
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, as needed
  • Assist patient and physician throughout the visit
  • Collects, labels and processes specimens accurately
  • Maintains clean patient exam rooms
  • Assemble and use equipment appropriate to specific medical practice
  • Prepare instruments for sterilization and dispose of contaminated supplies, as needed
  • Communicates delays effectively when necessary
  • Manage time efficiently for the practice to maintain patient flow
MISCELLANEOUS:
  • Provides clerical support to patients such as but not limited to making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and answering telephones
  • Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels
  • Keep relevant knowledge up-to-date and apply to everyday practice
  • Effectively communicates with all team members to support a cohesive work environment
CHARTING:
  • Enters patient information into the computer accurately
  • Manages the physician’s desktop accurately and in a timely and efficient manner
Required Qualifications:
  • Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program
  • Medical office experience preferred
  • Must be able to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience is a plus
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong computer skills​, EMR experience preferred
