Salary Grade:8B ($20.37-$23.95-$27.50)/hr.

  • Queries database and generates various reports. Responsible for learning and mastering all aspects of the current database used to store and manipulate donor information in the direct mail program.
  • Generates data files and distributes to vendors.
  • Works with the outside programmer and Database Manager to troubleshoot and correct errors within the database.
  • Confers with Database Manager to determine the impact of database changes on other development systems and staff.
  • Manipulates data files.
  • Transfers data.
  • Assists with database backup and recovery.
  • Assists in monitoring database performance; ensures security and integrity.
  • Assists with directing programmers and analysts to make changes to the donor database system.
  • Provides development related software support to Development staff with regard to all available software programs.
  • Communicates all database changes and updates to the proper departments and /or individuals.
  • Assists in monitoring hard drive space by saving and deleting files.
  • Works with MIS Department to keep all development computers, servers and printers working properly.
  • Imports files into a database for posting and reporting functions. Completes programming for back-end premiums as needed and notifies appropriate staff when completed.
  • Works closely with the Database Manager to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Assists with training users and answers questions.
  • Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Observes, receives, and otherwise obtains information from all relevant sources.
  • Builds an excellent working relationship with vendors.

A.) in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and/or one-year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Database knowledge required.
  • Basic programming knowledge.
  • Must be proficient in using personal computers and in using Microsoft Office software, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Ability to manipulate and save files in various formats.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work well under pressure and with little supervision.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from development personnel.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to think broadly and consider impacts across systems and within the organization.
