Description :Position Overview:Youth Development Coaches will be the primary person through whom youth receive services. Youth Development Coaches will have a maximum caseload of 15 youth and will meet with each youth for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours per week. Youth Development Coaches will assess youths’ academic and career interests and develop individualized Career and Educational Readiness plans. Youth Development Coaches will be familiar with and receive training support to help youth navigate NYC workforce and social service systems and will connect youth to other program staff for additional support. Work will take place within various locations which provide support to justice involved youth in ACS Detention, Non-Secure Detention. Limited Secure Placement and youth who have transitioned back into the community. Youth Development Coaches will use a trauma-informed and strength-based approach with youth to build trusting relationships. The overall goal is to provide educational support, direction, and advocacy for youth so that they may graduate high school, persist in a post-secondary setting, build progressive career development experiences in line with their interests and strengths, and develop academic/vocational plans that will help them navigate onto a living wage career pathway.Position Qualifications:Bachelor’s in Social Work, Forensic Psychology or Criminal Justice from an accredited college preferred. Will accept Associates and two or more years’ experience, in the field of education/workforce; substance use, mental health and/or criminal justice with clientele similar to that served by the program. Must have an understanding of adolescent development. Experience in providing individual counseling and group work preferred. Must have good time management skills. Must be able to clear a background check in order to be on site at the designated facilities.
