- Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to support the North America Aggregates and Asphalt businesses.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies and a leading practice sharing culture within Aggregates and Asphalt, both across North America and with global peers.
- Establish, monitor and improve performance metrics (KPI systems) to systematically evaluate the performance of our Aggregate and Asphalt operations and utilize these metrics to drive cost reduction improvements and efficiency gains.
- Liaise with other Heidelberg Materials technical centers in Cement and Ready-mix Concrete to promote and support global initiatives and objectives.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate training for operations personnel such as production performance, sustainability management, customer service, supervisory management, and safety.
- Ensure leading practices, solutions, and new ideas are shared and implemented, leveraging regional expertise in order to meet the requirements of regional market and local business needs.
- Collaborate with region leadership team members to drive the development of competent Aggregate and Asphalt supervisors and managers through coaching, training, and active involvement in succession planning.
- Lead the project management and engineering function of CCA to support, justify and deliver on capital expenditure projects.
- Ensure that we are connected to the external market and OEM’s and that we stay appraised of innovations and technology that can improve efficiencies and/or reduce costs.
- Ensure that the Aggregates and Asphalt businesses are aligned to ensure we can leverage developments in automation technology and digital solutions.
- Lead and influence key industry associations including
- Participate in M&A due diligence and joint venture work as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant discipline. An MBA would be beneficial.
- A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in building materials with a track record of business development and operations success.
- Broad knowledge of the business combined with a solid technical background in operations along with project management and engineering
- Significant resource development experience including property exploration, land acquisition, and permitting of resources, as well as divestiture and reclamation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing environmental programs with a working knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations
- Strong stakeholder management, influence, and negotiation skills.
- Professional competence with strong industry knowledge and understanding of the Aggregates market and products.
- Innate continuous improvement mindset, process methodology skills, and impressive change management capability.
- Commitment to sustainable management, championing safety and complying with anti-trust, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Entrepreneurial management skills, excellent financial acumen, and the demonstrated ability to consider long-term risks and opportunities.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
