- Support the provision and delivery of a high-quality health psychology service at Southland Hospital, Invercargill.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with health professionals from multiple services
- Providing psychological advice, consultation and training to non-psychological colleagues working across a variety of health services.
- Management of a varied caseload including the assessment, formulation and intervention of anxiety and mood difficulties relevant to patients with long term physical health conditions across a wide range of services including (but not limited to) Diabetes, Cardiology, Respiratory, Stroke, Renal, Bariatrics and Gastroenterology.
- Provide psychological interventions that promote rehabilitation and psychological wellbeing including support for adjustment and/or treatment adherence at the time of diagnosis or acute/significant change in medical status or treatment.
- Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Southern DHB policies and procedures.
- Access to health psychology administrative support to support them administratively in their role
- Supported through specialist individual clinical supervision, a generous CME allocation, attendance at southern wide monthly psychology meetings and have opportunities to connect with other psychologists working in physical health contexts across the country through online special interest/supervision groups.
- Be highly self-motivated and have the ability to manage and prioritise a high workload autonomously
- Demonstrated clinical practice in therapy for people with physical health difficulties and concerns.
- Hold a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
- Able to uphold a professional manner, confidentiality, and sensitivity at all times.
- Be a friendly team-player who is comfortable actively participating within a multi-disciplinary team.
