Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager for the Iowa, Illinois, and Indiana area within the Midwest. The Purchasing Manager responsibilities include locating suppliers, purchasing equipment, materials, and services. This position is considered remote, qualified applicants within the states listed with active projects or surrounding areas. On-site visits depending on the project will be required. Region includes: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Organization and management of all purchasing functions supporting projects within the Midwest Region
  • Managing the daily activities of sourcing/day to day bidding for materials, and project purchases
  • Managing local contracts including administering, negotiating, reviewing, renewal, filing, and evaluating procured materials for availability, price, term, and is consistent with the quality and service required.
  • Oversee purchases, services to support current and upcoming projects
  • Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels
  • Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history
  • For critical materials vetting multiple vendors or providers to improve efficiency and offset potential delays
  • Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or other related Degree
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience
  • Purchasing experience on construction projects, large scale purchasing.
  • Purchasing experience for commercial, mission critical or industrial projects is required.
  • Experience in Electrical construction preferred, but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Candidates must possess strong attention to detail, tact and consideration, solid communication skills, positive initiative and judgement, the ability to problem solve and meet deadlines, and be very organized.This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Friday between 7:00am-5:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. This schedule is subject to change as business needs require. Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred.All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and reference check.
