Under the supervision and guidance of school leadership and the Teaching and Learning Department, the Spanish Content Specialist is responsible for building the capacity of district staff in the area of Spanish content, language programming models, & overall instructional practice.Confidently demonstrates leadership skills when facilitating and supporting change for the purpose of improved student learning.Develops and maintains a confidential, collegial relationship with district colleagues for the purpose of cultivating a community of collaborative problem-solving.Plan and implement professional learning at the teacher, team, school, and district levels.Demonstrates exemplary classroom practice and possesses a deep understanding of instructional theory within Spanish content & language program models for the purpose of modeling best practices and improving student achievement levels.Collaborate with colleagues to support Spanish content development and instruction across all program models.Research best practices and innovation for curriculum/content/programming.Articulate expertise on standards and curricular resources used to achieve standards (progressions, task analysis, etc.)Analyzes student, class, grade level, and district targets/goals data and reports data for the purpose of collaborating with teachers to make informed decisions relative to instructional practices.Discusses goals and needs (both initial and ongoing) of teachers and students for the purpose of determining the kinds of professional development and strategies needed to bring about teacher capacity and improved student learning.Support implementation of school improvement plans.Maintain vertical alignment and consistency of academic vocabulary, instructional tools, models, and strategies throughout the system.Ensure discipline-specific application of universal pedagogical practices for all students: engagement, differentiation, etc..Create inclusive grade-level content that is accessible to D96 students of all backgrounds and ability levels.Manage curriculum resources including Google Drive (pacing guides, rubrics, assessments) as well as physical and other digital materials/resources.Ensure fidelity and appropriately update curricular documents including standards, rubrics, assessments, etc..Sets personal learning goals using data and feedback to engage in aligned learning opportunities for the purpose of continuous professional growth.Engage in professional learning to further coaching development under the direction of the Teaching and Learning Department.Perform other responsibilities assigned, including the appropriate expectations identified in the staff handbook and Board Policy.Qualifications:1. The Spanish Content Specialist must have a valid Illinois elementary teaching certificate.
