- Spearhead and lead full responsibility for driving company-wide construction initiatives with strong leadership, dedication, safety-first mentality, and honor toward all employees.
- Lead the cultural expectations of safety, quality, professionalism, collaboration, and honesty as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the company.
- Oversee all aspects of outside construction ensuring efficiency and excellence from internal and contractor sources.
- Ensure skill qualifications are met with appropriate hiring and training for drill operators, plow operators, drop plow operators and splicers in multiple markets. Recruits, coaches, and develops a construction leadership pipeline.
- Oversee project management, design team, pre-construction, construction, splicing, and delivery phases of projects relating to installation of Fiber Optic Networks and Fiber to the Premise deployments.
- Responsible for the creation of FTTH high-level, low-level design. Lead teams with multiple projects against timelines that create FTTP and fixed wireless network solutions end to end.
- Understanding and experience delivering fiber optic design standards, industry processes, working knowledge of GIS based design support software.
- Responsible for the final design content and documentation to support the physical fiber placement infrastructure.
- Validate the design for aerial and underground builds, ensure editing of designs as projects progress. Work closely with stakeholders to confirm viable paths. Validate duct counts, vaults and splice- can requirements for each project. Find creative solutions to the challenges of route selection, network design, and ROW issues.
- Understand and implement designs that meet customer needs, long term fiber goals and conform to all applicable regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to recruit, manage, and develop OSP teams, construction crews, and splicing technicians.
- Identify, develop, and manage fiber supplier and vendor relationships and work with Procurement on delivery cycles.
- Interface with Fiber Engineering, Network Engineering, Operations and Sales & Marketing teams to ensure project completion on time and within budget.
- Develop procedures to inspect and assure construction work quality and crew safety.
- Manage OSP team equipment needs and fleet vehicles.
- Develop Process and Procedure for Fiber On-Call and all aspects of on-going maintenance, break fix repairs and troubleshooting
- Maintain and enhance a strong customer service-oriented environment for both internal and external customers, focused on problem avoidance and resolution.
- Create, refine, and utilize KPIs and metrics to monitor deployment expectations and investment assurance.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, analyses, and presentations to the Leadership Team, Board and other stakeholders as needed.
- Formulates and controls capital and operating budgets and provides analysis of financial performance and productivity in both areas of the P&L for all construction and fiber projects.
- Negotiates and administers contracts with construction vendors and utilities,
- Develops assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members.
- Ensures that all applicable codes, standards, and proper construction practices are modeled and followed.
- Possess a robust 15+ years of managerial experience in the broadband or fiber construction and maintenance industry.
- Extensive experience in overseeing large-scale ground up construction for projects over $100 million.
- Managerial expertise of aerial and underground construction specifications and practices.
- Advanced budgeting, P/L experience, and finance management skills
- Construction Project Management software expertise.
- Experience with various telecommunications construction practices and techniques, including material and supply chain management.
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. Work is sedentary that primarily involves sitting/standing.
