- Practice and promote the Organization’s Code of Ethics in conducting business – both internally and externally.
- Possess senior management level knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, and operational functions of the organization, and support the CEO and executive management team in achieving the organization’s vision, goals, and objectives.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Company CEO, proactively advancing key initiatives effectively and within agreed timelines.
- Help develop and implement short and long range business plans through budgets and forecasts.
- Motivate and advance the accounting and finance department to ensure alignment with the Company’s operational vision and empower direct reports to perform at even higher levels. Instill an attitude of service in the finance organization.
- Drive Company project cost control policies and procedures; make improvements and train project managers on cost control where necessary.
- Lead the accounting department in Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Payroll, HR; ability to interface with Purchasing department as necessary.
- Develop the processes/procedures necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, proper records maintenance, and adequate accounting controls in support of Company operations.
- Prepare for and lead monthly project reviews with CEO, executive staff, and project managers to evaluate job performance, assess risks, develop action plans and update the book position of each project.
- Manager corporate cash flows and assist project management staff in managing cash on the project level.
- Guide and advise the accounting department in responding to internal and external audits; be integral to ensuring Company is in compliance.
- Collaborate with peers and employees to leverage shared knowledge among departments and sister companies.
- Oversee IT function maintaining and safeguarding vital programs and infrastructure across all departments.
- MBA in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline, and/or CPA accreditation is strongly preferred.
- Professional experience as a corporate controller with 5-10 years of accounting/finance experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance.
- Bachelor’s degree required in accounting/finance.
- Qualified candidate will possess construction industry and/or local market experience with understanding of percentage completion accounting and over/under billings calculations.
- Having worked in a CPA firm with construction clients or in a construction firm or related industry is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of FASB, SOX, IRS, Federal, State and City regulations as they apply to the essential functions of this position.
- Preferred familiarity with construction contract language and terms and construction accounting. This includes but is not limited to contracting process, project accounting, job costing, payroll and having worked in a union employee organization is preferred.
- Advanced Computer/Technical Skills with various accounting applications (life cycle of the accounting and finance departments)
- Microsoft Office expertise
