Closing Date: Open Until FilledSummary:This position is a professional level, exempt, full-time position reporting to the Deputy Director. The individual will manage Human Resources functions, be responsible for the development and implementation of employee policies and procedures, benefits administration, and research related to legal issues as requested by management. The Human Resource Director will work closely with management to effectively plan and implement strategic goals and objectives as assigned.Major Responsibilities:
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Assists management in the development and implementation of employee policies and procedures. Responds to inquiries regarding policies and procedures and provides training as requested.
  • Researches and provides recommendations regarding employment law as requested.
  • Ensures new employee orientation is conducted to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Ensures employee participation in benefits plans as applicable and makes sure records of participation for pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for organizational and government reporting.
  • Coordinates management training regarding interview processes, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Administers salary classification program to ensure compliance and equity within organization. Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Works closely with the Safety Manager to investigate accidents and prepares reports for applicable agency.
  • Ensures employee separation notices and related documentation are processed timely, and makes certain exit interviews are conducted.
  • Represents organization at employee related hearings and investigations as required or assigned.
  • Conforms to safety policies and general housekeeping practices.
  • Demonstrates sound work ethics, flexible, and shows dedication to the position.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, is respectful, and possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity toward clients and co-workers.
  • Keeps customer service and the mission of the organization in mind when interacting with all clients, co-workers, and others.
  • Expected to be prepared to start shift on time, meet attendance standards, and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Law or related field
  • Four years professional, management level work experience in related field
  • PHR or SPHR Certification
  • A combination of related work experience and education demonstrating ability to fulfill the functions of the position may qualify
Hours of Work:Hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an hour for lunch. This a full-time 37.5 hours per week and 1,950 hours a year position. Chugachmiut maintains a non-smoking and drug/alcohol free work environment.
