Job Description:About the positionWe seek a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced candidate to join our team as a Visiting Researcherin the Performance, Innovation, and Strategic Analysis for Impact (PISA) unit. The successful candidate willplay a key role in data management and analysis and will contribute to the preparation of a peer-reviewedarticle. Under the Low Emission Food Systems Initiative, in collaboration with the Global Research Allianceon Agricultural Greenhouse Gases and the Ryan Institute at the University of Galway, we are conducting astudy to inform and support climate-change capacity development programs to better understand, reflecton, and challenge gender norms and roles affecting young women and men, which may limit their abilityto engage in climate action training programs or derive the most benefit and impact from suchopportunities.We seek students enrolled in a M.Sc. program in the field of social sciences (anthropology, sociology,economics, or related fields), with experience in managing and analyzing data, and with technical writingskills.Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in (online) team meetings.
  • Manage (includes organizing and cleaning) two datasets and lead the analysis of these data
according to the study design.
  • Generate output tables to foster discussion and further guide the analysis. Data will be analyzed
mostly using descriptive statistics, and qualitative analysis. Conduct in-depth analysis (e.g.,multivariate regressions) if needed.
  • Review literature related to gender research (including inequalities women face), capacity-
developing programs, climate change, and other topics deemed relevant to the study, andconsolidate this in a folder.
  • Contribute in the preparation of a draft peer-reviewed article.
RequirementsRequired qualifications and experience.
  • Students enrolled in the field of anthropology, sociology, economics, agricultural economics, or
related fields, at the master’s level.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite software programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Outlook) and statistical software (R, Stata, etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience producing technical reports. Publications in peer-reviewed journals will
be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Experience in gender research in agriculture will be an advantage.
  • Experience in climate change action research will be an advantage.

  • Ability to work collaboratively but also independently, in a multidisciplinary environment with
multicultural teams.
  • Results orientated, have initiative and capacity to innovate, continuous learning.
  • Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
BenefitsTermsThis is an internationally recruited position. The Visiting Researcher will be linked to this position for 6months or until December 2024, whichever comes first.
