To explore and learn more, click !Your Main Objectives:Assist equipment engineers with the integration, fabrication, modification and functional testing of complex research equipment.Conduct fabrication including the use of metal working tools and tasks such as riveting, shearing, bending, and welding.Operate forklift, High reach and overhead crane, rigging operations, and handling of gas bottles.Conduct operations and maintenance of fabrication equipment located in machine shop to include maintenance and repair of equipment and ensuring proper use of equipment based on safety protocols.Perform routine and preventative maintenance for specialized research equipment and devices.Participate in engineering system design phases with other engineers and technical personnel.Troubleshoot and repair mechanical deficiencies that arise during equipment start-up and operations.Maintain clean shop environment.What Sets You Apart:No degree is required, but you need 2 or more years experienceTime spent working with industrial machining and fabrication system operation, maintenance and repair (examples include Mig and Tig welding, plasma cutting, CNC, 3D printing, lathe, Bridgeport type mill, press break, shear, band saw, drill press, etc)Familiarity with engineering design, build, and/or customization of various types of equipment (examples include metal structural, additive manufacturing, compressed gas, hydraulic, pneumatic and electro-mechanically operated human use devices) according to identified research project needs/specifications.Be task oriented and able to respond independently to and systematically accomplish planned maintenance requirements execution, troubleshooting and repair of research devices, machine shop systems and other systems of interest.Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance, priority may be given to those who already have this clearanceDue to US Government requirements, US Citizenship is necessaryYou Might Also Have:Previous work in a military or medical research environment is highly desiredBasic familiarity with design applications such as SolidworksAny Forklift, bridge crane, other manned lift use, welding and HVAC certificates would be preferentialAny work with customization and fabrication of flight simulators or other manned simulator systems highly desired.At Leidos, the opportunities are boundless.
