This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions.Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct.Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority.Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District.Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTeach district approved curriculum.Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.Confer with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls and conferences to communicate students' progress.Collaborate with other teachers to identify and resolve students' health, attitude and learning problems.Select and requisition books and instructional aids and maintain required inventory records.Administer group standardized tests and competency tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.Establish and maintain an appropriate discipline plan for the classroom and assist in maintaining discipline within the school environment in accordance with district discipline policies.Plan and coordinate the work of classroom aides and teacher assistants.Follow the assigned schedule, keep a daily lesson plan and prepare an outline of classroom procedures as approved by the principal.Establish rapport and consistent behavior expectations with students.Prepare substitute teachers' folder to ensure no lapse in the daily lesson plan in the absence of the regular teacher.Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.Participate in frequent training, curriculum development programs and committees to stay current with teaching methods and practices.Perform other duties as appropriate.OTHER INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
  • Ability to use computers for classroom instruction and record keeping.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESMay directly supervise classroom aides. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and negotiated agreements.
