Oak Park is a dynamic and historic community, located just 8 miles west of downtown Chicago. The Village of Oak Park's Forestry Division manages the Village's urban forest of more than 18,000 parkway trees as well as more than 100 various public landscaped areas.POSITION SUMMARY:
This is the full journey level class within the Forestry Worker series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Forestry Worker I by the performance of the full range of duties assigned including planting, pruning and removing trees. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Possession of a Certified Arborist designation from the International Society of Arboriculture is a condition of employment. The following certifications are required within six months of employment: Class B CDL and Certified Pesticide Operators License from Illinois Department of Agriculture. Working conditions include travel from site to site, some exposure to dust and noise, some heavy lifting, standing, climbing, may work at heights and work in inclement weather conditions.
