Job SummaryThe Lab Technical Coordinator's primary responsibility is to aid the Lab & Color Operations Manager with any items that are needed in the lab. The Lab Technical Assistant reviews color, testing specimen, test reports as well as performing test method for fit testing. They will also aid in risk mitigation, QC issues, filing/record keeping, and any other tasks asked to be preformed by the Lab & Color Operations Manager.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review Lab Dips, Strike-Offs and Bulk Fabrics for Color
  • Setting Color Standards and Maintaining in Bulk Production
  • Aiding in Product Development and Sourcing - specifically with Testing
  • Technical and General Commenting to the Mills - Includes both Testing and Color Commenting
  • Rating Various Test Specimen or Test Results to Provide Pass/Fail based on Brand Requirements
  • Testing Fabrics for Elongation and Pass/Fail based on Brand Requirements
  • Reviewing Test Reports from 3rd Party Providers to Pass/Fail based on Brand Requirements
  • Reading Color Digitally to provide Color Comments to achieve match to Color Standard
  • Organizing and Filing of all Testing/Color Reference for record keeping
  • Assisting with Product Development (specifically color/testing) on Multiple Brands
  • Assisting with General Quality Control
  • Helping to Improve and Maintain General Lab and Color Process
  • Risk Mitigation for Color and Testing
  • Working and Maintaining Communication with Cross Functional Team Members focusing on Color, Testing and Company-wide Processes
  • Working and Maintaining Communication with Mill Partners and Brand Partners
Qualifications/Requirements:Education: College degree in Textile Science, Textile Testing or Textile Design and /or experience with Textile Testing & Color ManagementExperience: 1 - 3 years in apparel or textile industryMUST HAVE SUPERIOR COLOR VISION - based on Farnsworth Munsell Color TestSkills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Excel
  • Strong knowledge of textiles and textile testing
  • Strong knowledge of color communication and color review
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with using textile testing machinery
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Cross Functional Team Members, Mills and Suppliers
  • Knowledge and experience using Spectrophotometer including reviewing Digital Reading results
Certifications
  • Certified for natific or Datacolor would be preferred, but not required
  • Superior Color Vision - based on Farnsworth Munsell Color Test - REQUIRED
Working Conditions: In Office - 4 days a week; Work from Home - 1 day a week; workload dependingPhysical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit and walk 8 hours/daySWIM USA is an EOE
