- Providing support for geotechnical, environmental, geophysical, geodetic, geological services including geophysical surveys, GIS mapping, soils and materials testing, geologic mapping, vibration and settlement monitoring, soil boring and rock corings, monitoring well/piezometer installation, and soil and groundwater sampling.
- Working with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects related to a wide range of civil infrastructure projects,
- Flexibility and willingness to travel for project work part time as needed,
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
- Supporting a wide variety of geotechnical, geologica, and geophysical investigations.
- Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
- Conducts research and does investigation work as required.
- Plans and organizes project studies.
- Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
- Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
- May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences, or Environmental Science.
- 6 years of related experience.
- Previous experience successfully supporting Department of Defense clients including the US Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 Hour Construction training.
- Valid US Driver's License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- MS or PhD in Geophysics/Geology/Geoscience
- PG license
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams located within other AECOM office
- Experience with working on international projects at US military installations
- Active clearance or ability to obtain security clearance
- Willingness to represent AECOM at professional organization
- Experience and willingness to mentor junior staff
- Interest in business development
- Strong desire to learn and a professional drive.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office Programs. Capable of functioning with spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
- A strong sense of commitment and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to travel for project work part-time as needed.
- Familiarity/capability in relevant geoscience software programs such as Surfer, ArcGIS, EarthImager, SeisImager, Radan and AutoCAD.
- Previous experience preparing safe work plans and ability to serve as site safety supervisor.
