Network Engineer 4Location:a) BLS PSB, 2 Massachusetts Ave, N.E., Washington DC, 20212 -b) BLS Suitland, 4600 Silver Hill Rd, Suitland, MD 20746 -Position Type: Full-TimePosition Description:IntelliBridge is seeking a Network Engineer 4 to join our outstanding team in Washington, DC. The Network Engineer 4 establishes the infrastructure by updating and tuning the network, direct hardware installations, test procedures to create baselines and thresholds, identify and troubleshoot difficult or unusual environment problems by using network-monitoring tools and implementing solutions to provide maximum performance.Position Responsibilities:
  • Senior network engineer who is part of a shift supporting team to install and monitor varies Cisco telecommunication devices and provide engineering and data center management support:
  • Primary work location is in Washington DC with a shift schedule from 7:30AM – 4:00PM.
  • Occasional secondary work location is in Ashburn VA with an eight-hour shift coverage between the hours of 7:00AM – 9:00PM.
  • Demonstrates very strong Cisco analytical skills to identify, troubleshoot and solve network related business requirements, needs and ongoing production incidents.
  • Identifies as an escalated point of contact when working with the Cisco telecommunication equipment.
  • Requires technical knowledge to deploy new and troubleshoot existing ethernet and fiber cable runs, perform data center hardware rack installations, update and maintain rack elevation diagrams, experienced leading up new hardware and software deployments, technical refreshes and upgrades.
  • Performs NXOS and IOS patch management upgrades on all Cisco telecommunication equipment.
  • Develop and document high-level system engineering designs, scope requirements, test cases, standard operating procedures and implementation plans.
  • Ability to present technical proof of concepts and demos to coworkers, management staff and the customer.
  • Available and flexible for production incident troubleshooting and provide support for normally scheduled after hour or weekend maintenance activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior network and data center engineers.
  • Manage the priorities of the customer’s requests and incidents using a proprietary ticketing system.
Position Requirements:
  • Ten (10) years of experience in a large government organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale internetworking environment, including two years in a technical leadership or supervisory role.
  • Five (5) years of experience directly supporting a complex infrastructure covering the major aspects of network administration with expertise in areas of troubleshooting IPv4 issues across varies protocols and technologies such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, static routing, SSH, ACL, VLAN, VTP, STP, SNMP, LACP, vPC, vPort Channels, Wireshark and TCPdumps.
  • Five (5) years of a very strong hands on experience understanding and having the ability to implement and troubleshoot Cisco switches (i.e., 9300, 9500, 3850, 2960, Nexus 2k, 5k and 7k series).
  • Three (3) year experience configuring, administering and maintaining network IT monitoring and management software such as Netscout nGenius and Solarwinds (i.e., NetFlow traffic analysis, Bandwidth monitoring, PerfStack, Network performance baselines, Traffic Analyzer, IPAM and NetPath).
  • Three (3) year of experience having a role in data center operations. Thorough knowledge of data center hardware specifications, lights-out-management solutions, crimping of Ethernet cables, adept with network cable runs and best practices, familiar with power requirements, racking and decommissioning of hardware.
  • Thorough knowledge of telecommunications, network security issues and best practices.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation, written and oral communications skills.

  • Ability to present complex network IT solutions to new and ongoing projects and stakeholders.
  • Ability to write solid, clear, detailed technical solutions, implementation plans, schedules, action items, document incidents and complete root cause analysis statements.

  • Demonstrate a customer-centric attitude and solid communication skills.
  • 10+ Years of Professional Experience.
Education and/or Certifications:
  • College Degree – Information Technology related field.
  • Technical certifications: CCNP R&S or CCIE Lab or Written desired.
Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to achieve and maintain a Public Trust.
