- The primary function of a superintendent is coordination, problem resolution and removal of schedule roadblocks.
- As the Superintendent you represent the M&D brand to customers, General Contractors, other trades, it is expected you model the behaviors of professionalism and integrity
- Ensure our teams follow company policies, ethics, and processes.
- Identify, recommend, and implement improved methods and processes to improve efficiency, execution, and quality.
- Assist the identification and performance of staff development and training to further developed in their roles.
- Oversees, manages, and documents all day-to-day production activities including M&D and OSHA safety/PPE compliance requirements.
- Report all health and safety incidents to immediate supervisor immediately
- Complete reporting, i.e., daily, weekly, monthly, etc. to communicate status and issues to the project manager and leadership team.
- Utilize available processes and tools for tracking requests, tasks, progress, status, hand-offs, with the intent to enable the communication of information
- Ensures customer/client satisfaction through superior customer interaction and by cultivating relationships
- Facilitate and ensure collaboration between the project team, M&D support team and other trades.
- Responsible for the execution of resource management including staff, equipment, and materials.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations of the project team
- Partner with HR for disciplinary actions up to termination of employment
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment by ensuring team members have been certified to use equipment
- Ensure project quality through inspection and testing
- Perform other duties assigned by management
- Scheduling: Formulates and implementing the production schedule.
- Maintains the schedule and ensures that work performed is consistent with the design, schedule, and M&D quality expectations.
- Provides input to the Project Managers for them to be able to update the Project Schedule monthly.
- Coordinate & schedule duct delivery
- Procure materials required for duct installation
- Maintain updated drawings of duct installation
- Coordinate with CAD department on duct to be fabricated from shop drawings
- Communicate and take calls from shop supervisors regarding duct needs
- Develop & maintain an accurate production report
- Attend weekly job meetings to update job status & direction
- Work with foreman to achieve production goals & maintain project schedules
- Communicate to Project Managers and shop supervisors of any fabrication designs, fabrication delays or problems
- Direct field personnel with the field foreman
- Complete time and material sheets on a project specific basis
- Complete timesheets weekly and turn into payroll department
- Perform safety walkthroughs daily and facilitate Toolbox Talks weekly
- Minimum of high school education, or GED equivalent
- Previous production experience
- Working knowledge of quantitative methods (i.e. forecasting manpower, materials, mathematics, etc.)
- 2+ years supervisory or management related experience, preferably in construction
- Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of HVAC duct systems and components
- Ability to read and comprehend project specifications
- Ability to read and comprehend project drawings
- Create Project drawings from field superintendent requests
- Ability to read and comprehend SMACNA requirements
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Must be able to self-check own work to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple task and schedule requirements
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills
- Strong TEAM player
- Location: industrial construction sites and/or office environment
- Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways
- Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately indoor climate; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc., potential exposure to chemical substances.
