St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church is a thriving, diverse and growing community in south Austin, Texas. Founded and served by the Congregation of Holy Cross, we number approximately 2,400 families. Our parish is animated by our mission to make God known, loved, and served, and thus save souls, which we carry out through our fidelity to the worship and tradition of the Catholic Church and through a tremendous array of active ministries, including our St. Ignatius Martyr School, our Food Pantry, and our youth ministry and religious education programs.The Director of Worship and Sacred Music is a faithful Catholic who works to provide beautiful liturgies in which God is praised and glorified, facilitating the "full and active participation" of the assembly. Possessing specialized credentials in music, the Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of the liturgical celebrations of St. Ignatius Martyr, in order to fulfill the mission of the parish.Under the supervision of the Pastor, the Director of Worship and Sacred Music serves St. Ignatius Martyr as the principal organist, pianist, and director of the parish choir; additionally, the Director is responsible for the arrangement and decoration of the liturgical space according to the feasts and seasons of the year. The Director collaborates with other staff, both at the parish and the school, and oversees all liturgical musicians, both volunteers and cantors and musicians, to provide high quality music and beautiful liturgies that facilitate the participation of the faithful.
