Team SummaryThis position is part of Search's team in Guatemala, our newest program. The Guatemala team works under the umbrella of a USAID-funded, one-team approach project, reporting to the Chief of Party of the project. Search's Regional Director, Latin America, has oversight to ensure that our Guatemala team delivers on our contribution in a timely, quality manner. The Guatemala team is focused on project implementation, including planning, execution, and reporting. They work with Search's regional and global structure for technical expertise and implementation support.Position SummarySearch is seeking an experienced Inclusion Specialist in Guatemala City to support Search's implementation of a multi-year project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) targeting 5 municipalities across Guatemala. The project aims to strengthen target communities' ability to address crime and violence through multisectoral collaboration.As the Inclusion Specialist, you will play a crucial role in building relationships and ensuring the inclusion of underserved and marginalized populations, including youth, women and girls, indigenous populations, LGBTQI+ individuals, and migrants.Responsibilities
  • Participate in project implementation strategy and execution, including work plans and reports.
  • Draft concepts, conduct training, and provide technical expertise in relevant areas including inclusion, diversity, and social justice to colleagues, partners, and communities.
  • Advocate for the meaningful participation and representation of underserved and marginalized groups in all project activities and decision-making processes.
  • Identify barriers to inclusion and develop strategies to address them, ensuring that the voices of these populations are heard and valued.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with underserved and marginalized populations, including youth, women and girls, indigenous communities, LGBTQI+ individuals, and migrants.
  • Collaborate closely with community leaders, local organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to understand the unique needs and perspectives of these populations.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the unique challenges faced by these populations, fostering empathy and solidarity within the broader community.
  • Assist in the facilitation of collaboration across diverse stakeholders, including young people, police, security forces, religious actors, and other key actors.
  • Contribute to efforts aimed at opening communication channels, tackling complex divisions, and strengthening relations between stakeholders to address violence effectively.
  • Act as the Safeguarding and Child protection focal point in the Guatemala Office. Responsible for receiving and documenting concerns about safeguarding incidents or concerns.
Contributions
  • Project Implementation: Coach project staff on utilization of codified methodologies; share best practices and offer assessment tools for program quality.
  • Workplan: Review and advise project work plan.
  • Reporting: Review and make inputs to reports related to technical area of work
  • Project activities: conduct training within scope of expertise; provide technical input for development of project activities, toolkits, resources, etc.
  • Financial management: Manage budget under technical area of work if any.
  • Personnel management: Supervise trainers and technical experts as needed.
  • - Advise staff on people management issues related to diversity and inclusion.
  • External engagement: Participate in recruitment/procurement of trainers and technical experts
- Ensure representation of Search in relevant coordination bodies, working groups, communities of practice, etc.- Represent Search at events related to area of technical expertise. * Provide input into program quality, reflection, and learning initiatives- Input into strategy development and planning related to technical area of work. * Technical review of strategy and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Participate in new project design.
  • Draft proposal components related to areas of expertise.
  • Infuses organizational values into all work.
  • Other duties that are broadly in line with the above key contributions as assigned.

Required Skills
  • University degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development, Political Science, International Affairs, Social Sciences, or other relevant subjects.
  • Experience working with underserved and marginalized populations in Guatemala.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to inclusion, diversity, and social justice, with a focus on youth, women and girls, indigenous communities, LGBTQI+ individuals, and migrants.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Experience in facilitating collaboration and dialogue among diverse groups, with a commitment to promoting equitable and inclusive outcomes.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required; knowledge of other languages spoken in Guatemala is an advantage.
Education and ExperienceTypically BS/BA with minimum 9 years' experience.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsUsual office environment conditions; ability to travel domestically at least 50%.Supervisory and Budget ResponsibilityTypically manages one or more direct reports and/or consultants and/or manages one functional area.
