We want your knowledge and expertise!As the Director of Patient Safety, you will improve consistent delivery of evidence-based care and reduction in preventable harm by focusing on reliability and applying the principles of reliable design. You will perform patient safety rounds that identify patient safety risks.What You Will Do In This Role:
  • You will prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes (e.g. forcing functions, checklists, error causation thinking, human factors, applied informatics, culture).
  • You will utilize alerts and best practices (e.g. Sentinel Event Alerts) to perform gap assessments and implement strong actions that will alleviate identified gaps.
  • You will facilitate thorough and credible serious event analysis that result in strong sustainable improvement strategies.
  • You will work with defense legal counsel to coordinate the investigation, processing and defense of claims against the facility; records, collects, documents, maintains, and provides to defense attorneys any requested information and documents necessary.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) required; If not already CPPS, must obtain certification within first year of hire.
  • Team STEPPS Master Trainer required; If not already a Master Trainer, must obtain certification within first year of hire.
  • Clinical background required.
  • Minimum three years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality required.
  • Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).is a 630+ bed healthcare system of hospitals in Corpus Christi and the surrounding Coastal Bend community. Bay Area is our full-service acute care hospital and offers state-of-the-art cardiovascular services, bariatric, GYN and robotic surgery. The Women’s Center at Bay Area, with its NICU Unit, is also the home of our graduate medical education program. Doctors Regional is our acute care hospital, with a 24-hour emergency department, cardiac catheterization labs, orthopedic and surgical services, and inpatient rehabilitation. Northwest Regional/Northwest Behavior Health Center provides emergency medical services, laboratory, imaging services and outpatient behavioral health services. Northshore Emergency Center is a full-service 24-7 emergency department in Portland that offers outpatient laboratory, imaging and occupational services.
