- Proposes, designs, and advocates for public realm projects throughout the City of Boston (COB).
- Manages public realm projects around the COB from concept to implementation including the creation of new public plazas and street reclamation projects.
- Assists in creating public realm guidelines and policies working with data analytics, real-time information, smartphone apps and online tools.
- Supports public realm activations, including block parties, street cafes, parklets, street murals, and plazas.
- Meets with and supports community members and institutions to activate public space in their communities, including helping the public obtain the necessary permissions and streamlining City of Boston processes for activating public space.
- Publicizes public realm work via social media to engage new audiences and keep the public up to date on current projects.
- Performs related work as required.
- Four (4) years of transportation planning experience, of which at least two (2) years must have been in a project management capacity.
- A bachelor's degree in City Planning or related field is preferred and can be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. There is no substitution for the project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in GIS mapping, Adobe Create Suite or similar graphics program, and website development.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with a Master's Degree, GIS mapping skills, and demonstrated ability to take projects from concept to implementation.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job. .
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of public agencies, private consultants, and community groups.
- Proven research, writing, oral, and graphic presentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple ongoing projects.
