We relentlessly pursue medicines to ease the burden of debilitating diseases and disorders, because you deserve brave science. *in collaboration with AbbVieAbout the Role: Seeking a highly motivated scientist in the field of chemical conjugation to join our chemical development group within CMC. In this vital role, the Sr, Scientist will work at the interface of synthetic chemistry and chemical biology and apply their chemical synthesis skills in process development and optimization for new hybrid therapeutics and cutting-edge novel modalities. The successful candidate will work on the process development of peptide synthesis as well as large molecule therapeutics including antibody/Fc peptide conjugates for various therapeutic areas. The candidate will be responsible for development and management of manufacturing and purification processes will collaborate with internal CMC groups and external CDMOs to ensure quality an on-time delivery of API’s Provides project management support for CMC programs or Chemical Development projects, may lead work streams or projects within Chemical Development. Your expertise on process development on both upstream and downstream will enable you to have significant impact on Neurocrine’s projects._Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Design and execute laboratory experiments to optimize and characterize conjugation chemistries and downstream purification processes for peptide-based bioconjugatesDevelopment and optimization of conjugation protocols utilizing novel chemistries and technologiesPreferably, experienced with conjugation to different modalities (Antibody, Protein, Peptide, Small molecules)Process development on both upstream and downstream process, lead projects and teams towards agreed upon goals, ultimately working towards GMP manufacturing of development candidateAid in lab setup, instrument purchase, installation, and ongoing lab operationsEffective communication of scientific rationale, results and interpretation at project, team, and departmental meetings, contributing to strategic discussionsActive management of CDMO for non-GMP/GMP drug substance manufacturingMay provide input for portion(s) of CMC regulatory documentation and supporting workCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful technology transfer from the laboratory to manufacturingOther duties as assignedRequirements:BS/BA degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering, or other similar scientific field and 5+ years of experience in experience in pharmaceutical/process development field, including API manufacturing experience ORMS/MA degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering, or other similar scientific field and 3+ years of similar experience above ORPhD in Chemistry, chemical engineering, or other similar scientific field and some relevant industry experience; may include postdoc experienceDemonstrates solid level of understanding project / group goals and methodsConsistently recognizes anomalous and inconsistent results and interprets experimental outcomesAble to explain the process behind the data and implications of the resultsStrong knowledge of one or more scientific disciplines, becoming expert in one disciplineStrong knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques.Strong knowledge and demonstrated ability working with a variety of laboratory equipment/toolsAbility to work as part of a team; may train lower levelsExcellent computer skillsStrong communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skillsDetail oriented yet can see broader picture of scientific impact on teamAbility to meet multiple deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiencyStrong project management skillsAbility to build and manage internal and external working relationshipsExperienced in bioconjugation chemistry and downstream purification processes, with hands-on experience in the generation and characterization of bioconjugatesExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teamsExcellent analytical, communication, organizational, and presentation skills are essentialDemonstration of cross-functional understanding related to drug developmentAdvanced knowledge and demonstrated ability working with / recommending a variety of laboratory equipment/tools#LI-DM1Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets employer.We are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, and we recognize there are a variety of ways to meet our requirements. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program.
