The Retail Division of Santa Monica Seafood has an immediate, full time opening for a Manager of its Retail Market and Café located in Costa Mesa, CA. The manager will be responsible for the overall operation, development, execution and management of the retail market and café. Ideal candidates will possess in depth knowledge and experience in managing and merchandising Specialty Markets. Emphasis will be placed on prior grocery store experience, a proven record of successful store management, and the ability to attract customers that are accustomed to the highest level of quality and service. In addition, the manager will work closely with senior management to develop strategies and execute programs in store operations, and retail merchandising.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assume overall responsibility for the Costa Mesa store regarding merchandising, advertising, store profitability and adherence to all allocated budgets
  • Lead a team of approximately 60 store employees to create and maintain a positive experience for both employees and customers
  • Supervise and direct workforce, make staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and scheduling)
  • Establish and maintain effective inventory control methods. Ensure customer satisfaction and product quality
  • Manage the store's financial performance
  • Manage all safety and security programs while ensuring compliance with city and county health requirements
REQUIREMENTS
  • Specialty retail food chain experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record in retail and foodservice management
  • Prior supervisory experience (5 years +)
  • Experience analyzing and creating financial reports (strong Excel)
  • Able to manage market and café operations independently
  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage resources to ensure that established service levels are achieved at all times
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures
  • Strong operational skills in a customer-service environment
  • Strong problem and team-building skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Advance computer skills using the MS office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
