Description of WorkThe Department of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral research associate. This 12-month (calendar year) postdoc researcher appointment will contribute to the integrated research land-grant mission of the home unit and IANR as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy.Recognizing that diversity enhances creativity, innovation, impact, and a sense of belonging, the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) and the Department of Biochemistry are committed to creating learning, research, Extension programming, and work environments that are inclusive of all forms of diversity. Consistent with the , we see every person and every interaction as important to our collective well-being and our ability to deliver on our mission.The postdoctoral research associate is expected to independently design and conduct high-quality research experiments for the assigned project under the supervisor's guidance, analyze data and draft manuscripts for publication, take roles in the lab maintenance with other group members, and assist the supervisor to mentor undergraduate and graduate students. The postdoc research associate will have the opportunity to learn comprehensive methods in preparation and characterization of metalloproteins in the Zhang group and first-hand training in cryo-EM in the collaborating research center supported by the NSF EPSCoR Research Fellowship.The apportionment is 100% research. Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field.
  • Strong record of conducting high-quality research either in structural biology or molecular biology with prior experience in protein biochemistry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in transcriptional regulation, biomolecular interaction, or structural biology (X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM).
