  • KIPP Columbus Athletic and Wellness Complex is a state of the art facility on the KIPP Columbus campus. It can host a variety of sporting and community events.
  • It features a lighted artificial turf field capable of hosting interscholastic football and soccer and an eight lane, regulation 400 meter track.
  • Includes home and visitor locker rooms, concession stand, restroom facilities, training room, regulation size practice field, and coaches office.
  • Two regulation sized gymnasiums seating 250 and 600 respectively for basketball and volleyball.
  • An urban, outdoor cross country course featuring a mile loop and connection to the track.
  • An outdoor basketball court for recreation, intramurals, and physical education classes.
The OpportunityThe Senior Associate of Athletics leads and coordinates all of our athletics and enrichment programming for Grades K - 12. That includes supporting, developing, and maintaining our overall Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) athletics program for Grades 7 - 12. The Senior Associate of Athletics coordinates all game and schedule logistics, OHSAA compliance, and monitoring student eligibility and coaching licensure.The Senior Associate of Athletics will also help to create enrichment opportunities for students beyond the OHSAA-aligned athletics program. This includes camps, after school activities and opportunities, coordination with the boosters program, community partnerships (with organizations like Boys and Girls Club, First Tee, etc.). The ideal Senior Associate of Athletics will be a strong communicator, be able to develop relationships with coaches, students, and families quickly and in difficult situations, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Job DescriptionKey responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Athletics Program Leadership
  • Coordinates the athletic program in collaboration with School Leaders and coaches to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each season to ensure consistency of program.
  • Supervises, manages, and evaluates all coaches.
  • Schedules all athletic contests, issues contracts for the contest, and maintains the proper and necessary records.
  • Ensures officials are scheduled and contracts are issues for all contests. Maintains an active file of officials under contract and pays officials following the contract.
  • Arranges transportation for all away contests.
  • Supervises athletic contests and acts as the host to officials and visiting schools.
  • Oversees the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest. Arranges for volunteers to supervise contests as needed.
  • Creates camps, clinics, and programming opportunities for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade to engage in healthy lifestyles and gain exposure to athletics.
  • Implements event request processes and KIPP Columbus policies for non-school use of playing fields and facilities.
Budget Management and Development
  • Supervises athletic funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the athletic program and submits it to the Managing Director of Finance and Superintendent.
  • Orders all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment.
  • Provides leadership for and serves as liaison to high school athletic booster groups and coordinates, with the coaches, the support group for specific athletic programs.
  • Maintains an annual inventory of all athletic equipment and supplies by sport.
Compliance
  • Advises and ensures all coaches conform with Board, OHSAA, league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws.
  • Verifies all athletic eligibility lists.
  • Ensures all coaches have successfully completed required in-service programs and licensure requirements.
General
  • Draft and send regular athletics-related communications to families including mandatory meetings, athletic banquets, etc.
  • Attends league and district meetings.
  • Serve as a member of KIPP Columbus's team, including the participation of team meetings, professional development, and other activities as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Special Projects.

QualificationsThe following are required of all applicants:
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and implement programs
  • Experience working with underserved communities, families and/or students
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Friendly and able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum of three years of teaching/coaching experience
  • Prior administrative experience preferred
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience working with Dragonfly preferred
