Job Description:Provides therapeutic services to psychiatric patients under Trauma Informed Care principles as directed by a Registered Nurse and according to the plan established by the treatment team. Participates in department and team treatment programs via educational group and 1:1 interactions. This position serves psychiatric patients across the life span.Responsibilities:Provide care to individuals receiving services in a manner that ensures safety, client's rights, confidentiality, comfort, dignity and a therapeutic environment.Coordinate and/or implement skilled level activities involving the care, treatment, and training of individuals receiving services.Carry out functions that contribute to the effectiveness and safety of the unit including crisis intervention, taking vital signs, observation of individuals receiving services.Work with clients and families and other team members to ensure the crisis stabilization unit provides individuals receiving services with a safe and supportive environment consistent with recovery concepts and person-centered planning.Ensure that the individuals receiving services maintain appropriate personal hygiene, perform activities of daily living and receive the proper nutrition.Assist with self-help skills as necessary and keep nursing informed of the condition of individuals receiving services.Prepare written reports (vital signs, census reports, incident reports for example) as necessary.Utilize the treatment plan as developed by the nursing staff and/treatment team.Supervise individuals receiving services in the activities of daily living, encouraging individuals receiving services to display independence and responsibility for self.Enforce limits on individuals' behavior using established policies, procedures and rules.Observe individuals receiving services for changes in physical and mental conditions, reporting those to professional staff.Monitor and document food intake during mealtime and snack time.Assist in group therapy sessions as assigned for individuals receiving services.Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.Qualifications:Education Minimum:High School Diploma or GED EquivalentEducation Preferred:Associates DegreeWork Experience Minimum:NoneWork Experience Preferred:NoneLicenses & Certifications Minimum:Hold a current, active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) course completion card.Effective April 1, 2024, candidates seeking employment in this role at Centra must possess a valid and current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS Provider or AHA BLS Instructor) course completion card.
